I appreciate what Rivian was going for here. Chemical-free, organic cleaning products that are safe for your interior, safe for your skin, and safe for your kids. As a dad, I get it. But at $65, and with plenty of alternatives already on the market, this one left me scratching my head more than anything.
What You Get
The Interior Care Kit comes with a set of cleaning products and cloths designed specifically for your Rivian's cabin. The products are natural and organic — no harsh chemicals, nothing that's going to leave residue on your seats where your kids sit. The company Rivian sources these from seems legit, with a real background in eco-friendly cleaning products. I'll try to dig into the specifics of the brand in a future update once I pull out the box and read through everything.
It Cleans Fine. That's About It.
Here's the thing: it's not something that cleans any better than what's already out there. It cleans in a way that doesn't leave chemicals on the seat, which is great and appreciated. But there are plenty of other products on the market that check that same box for less money. The cleaning performance itself is fine — not better, not worse. Just... fine.
The Brand Disconnect
This is what really gets me. Look at Rivian's marketing. Look at the imagery on their website. It's all about driving through deserts, going camping, having outdoor adventures. Mud, dirt, sand — all the things that come with an active, adventurous lifestyle. That's the Rivian brand.
And then you go to the Gear Shop and they're selling you... a soft cloth loofah to gently clean your car? It's a strange dichotomy. You're telling me to take my R1S through the wilderness, but then I need to come home and treat it like a day spa? It just doesn't feel on-brand for Rivian as a whole.
The $65 Question
The product itself is going to last me a while, and that's fine. But when it runs out, I don't think I'll be turning back and paying another $65 for this. There are too many alternatives out there that do the same job at a fraction of the price. It's a good product from what seems like a good company, but it's not something I couldn't have replaced with many other products on the market.
Pros & Cons
Final Verdict
2.5 out of 5 stars.
It's a good product, but it's a strange Gear Shop item. The chemical-free angle is appreciated — especially with kids in the car — but it doesn't clean any better than what you can find at the store for half the price. And honestly, it just feels out of place next to all the rugged, adventure-focused gear that Rivian is known for. I won't be repurchasing when this runs out.
